What is the ICICI Bank Travel Card?

ICICI Bank Travel Card is a pre-paid foreign currency card that makes your foreign trip totally hassle-free and convenient. You can load this pre-paid card with foreign currencies in India by paying in INR amount. It’s a smart alternative to paper based instruments like Traveller’s cheque or currency notes.

Easy Usage

Your Travel Card can be used in several ways. It can be used for making purchases at more than 30 million merchant outlets directly, using Point-Of-Sale terminals installed at merchant outlets or for making payments towards e-commerce transactions. Should you require cash, you may simply visit any VISA accepting ATM and withdraw cash conveniently. There are more than 1.7 million ATMs affiliated to VISA, worldwide.

  • Look for Visa/MasterCard sign to check whether the merchant accepts card payments
  • Card will be swiped/dipped in POS machine after purchase
  • Wait for the transaction slip
  • Sign on the transaction slip
  • You can retain a copy of transaction slip with original bill of purchase
  • Enter your existing 4-digit ATM PIN in case merchant asks for PIN after dipping the card

Please Note: Some merchants may ask you to enter your 4-digit PIN while making the payment through travel card, you are advised to use the same 4-digit ATM PIN for such type of transactions. On successful entry of 4-digit ATM PIN in the POS machine will authorise your transaction, and if wrong PIN was entered then trasaction will be declined.

Your ICICI Bank Travel Card has been enabled for usage over the Internet. For better control and security on the Internet, you need to activate the card before usage.

For Internet activation you may follow these easy steps:

  • Log on to https://prepaid.icicibank.com/icici/html/customer.html
  • Enter your user ID (16-digit card number) and password (Web PIN).
  • Click on the Tab- ECOM Card details and select the option of ‘Activation for the period of 24 hours’.
  • Log on to merchant website where payment need to be made
  • Fill up the card details and billing information and proceed for payment

Your Travel Card can only be used on Verified-secure websites. Such websites require you to enter CVV2 number (CVV 2 number is the 3-digit number on the reverse of the card near signature panel).

Please Note: ICICI Bank Multicurrency Platinum Travel Card is a pre-activated card for e-commerce/online transactions, you may start using your card immediately after card is loaded with sufficient amount.

Look for Visa/MasterCard logos to check whether the ATM accepts your Travel Card

  • Insert your card in the specified slot and select the language.
  • Enter your 4-digit ATM PIN.
  • Select the relevant option (Withdrawal / Balance enquiry)
  • Select the type of account as "Checking / Current" or "Credit" option. (The Savings option does not link to the Visa/MasterCard network and hence transaction would not be successful.
  • The ATM will process the request and
    • Dispense cash in local currency Or
    • Display the available balance
  • When asked for a receipt, press Yes/No.
  • Do not forget to collect your card (and receipt if applicable) after the transaction.

Please Note: Some of the ATM acquirers charge an additional ATM fee also most of the ATMs have the capacity to display/dispense amount in local currency. Please check this before usage

Do's

  • Some of the ATM acquirers charge additional transaction fees for using their ATM. Please check this before usage
  • While withdrawing cash or checking balance at ATM please select “Credit/Checking” as an option of account
  • Most ATMs have the facility to check the balance and withdrawal option in the local currency other than base currency. Hence, there can be cross conversion charges applicable if such option is chosen
  • Once you receive the card, please sign on the reverse of the card immediately
  • If you happen to lose your card, report the loss by calling our 24-hour Customer Care immediately
  • SMS alert facility is available only for Indian GSM mobile phone numbers. To receive transactional alerts while abroad, you need to have International roaming facility on your number
  • Retain the customer charge slip copy with you, provided by merchant in case any swipe transaction was canceled or reversed by merchant. This can be in the event of merchant has canceled the transaction, rejected, account verification or pre-authorization

Don'ts

  • Do not transact with your Travel Card for making purchases via Telephone/mail or in any other card not present situation. Do not use your Travel Card for pre-authorisation/ initiating a rental at the time of checking-in at hotels
  • Please do not refresh/close the window while the transaction is in process during online transactions
  • Please do not share your ATM and Web PIN or any other information related to your Travel Card to anyone, also do not write such information anywhere on your card or on any document
  • Do not keep your replacement card along with primary card for safety reasons
  • Do not handover your Travel Card, or disclose your PIN to any third party or any person under any circumstances
  • Please do not use your card on merchant outlets who opt for DCC - (Dynamic currency conversion) option at the time of settlement of your bills while swiping travel card. Please ask merchant to settle the transaction in the currency loaded on your travel card
  • Kindly do not allow merchant to swipe the card in your absence, card should be swiped at your presence on the counter
  • In case you are using your chip card for transaction at merchant outlet, and if they are swiping the card rather then dipping into the slot . Please ask them to dip the card into the machine not to swipe
